Let us help make sense by offering these high level definitions:

Analog - Type of phone service, commonly found in home and small businesses. 

DHTML - Dynamic HTML.  Allows animation to be brought to web pages

Digital - Another type of phone service, available in T1 or E1.  T1 provides the equivalent of 24 phone lines, while E1 provides the equivalent of 30 phone lines.  Generally country specific, T1's are common to North America.

HTML - Hypertext Markup Language - Language used for web pages

HTTP - Hypertext Transfer Protocol - Web protocol.

IMAP4 - Newer email protocol

ISAPI - Internet Server Application Program Interface.  Interfacing standard for web servers. 

LDAP = Lightweight Directory Access Protocol - Email protocol for accessing directory data.

MIME - Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension - Protocol for sending email.

ODBC - Open Database Connectivity, from Microsoft, enabling access to data. 

OTA - Over The Air Activation - Provisioning method for mobile telephone service.

POP3 - Email protocol

Radius - Remote Authentication Dial In Service.  Responsible for authenticating network access requests.

RAS - Remote Access Service.  Protocol to allow communications with networks.

SAPI - Speech Application Program Interface.  Enabling tools from Microsoft for speech processing, such as text-to-speech.

Screen Pop - Allows customer service agents to see details of a call at the same time as they pick up the telephone.  Customer provides information just once.

Serial - A method to communicate between computers.

Short Message Service (SMS) - Text messages to/from mobile telephone handset. 

SNMP - Simple Network Management Protocol - Automated watchdog type services across a network. 

SMTP - Simple Message Transfer Protocol - Email protocol.

SNTP - Simple Network Time Protocol - Automated time setting to high precision

Speech Recognition - Allows callers to speak their response in addition to using the keys from their telephone handset. 

Speech Verification - Verification of the caller.  Used for high security applications, such as money transfer.

Speech XML - A language designed to allow voice portal inclusion by web sites.

SS7 - High speed communications, typically used by national telephone companies such as for long distance services.

Text-to-Speech - Computer generated speech used to handle large vocabularies - such as a parts list.

UDP - User data protocol.  A protocol for data transmission over TCP/IP.

Voice Over IP (VoIP) - Voice transmission over network.  This could be through the Internet or a private network.

XML - A language designed to allow quick data communications between computer systems.

X.25 - A data communications protocol
